Disrupting the Chinese funeral profession

Two entrepreneurs set out to disrupt and reform China’s funeral profession. Faced with decades of corruption and bureaucracy, they moved the services offered by traditional funeral businesses to the internet. Customers would order consultations – and they would visit their customer’s homes, ready to guide them through the entire funeral process, with costs and practices made transparent to the consumers. They also invest in educational programmes to chip away at deeply rooted taboos surrounding death.
