“Silent Mentors”: Donation for Science

More Singaporeans are donating their bodies for science after their death. The number of donated human bodies here for science has increased over the years, allowing for the return of dissection classes that had been put on ice for over a decade. The Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine’s anatomy department has received about 20 donated bodies in 2017, compared with six in 2012. This has enabled medical students to have a more realistic learning and training. Every year, students will hold appreciation ceremonies to remember these “silent mentors”.
